QUEENSLAND FISHIN

It really was about time we caught a fish - not only were we getting bored of mince but we hadnt caught anything for agesssss. We put the line out on this sunny North Queensland day.

We were under sail on the way up the North Queensland coast, we had just discovered a saltwater leak in the bilge (not good news) and Crawford had all his tools out all over the floor as the boat was heeling from side to side.

At that very precise moment, we heard the high pitched "wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" - the sound of a fish grabbing the lure and the line being pulled out furiosly!

What terrible timing. Anyway, we managed to slow the boat down and lure this magnificent boy in!

Apparently its a Spanish Mackerel (Thankyou Alan of Quest 393 for identifying him...)

Not sure what a Spanish Mackerel is doing in Queensland. He probably said the same about us - what are those northerners doing in Queensland?

Have to say though, he was absolutely delicious - big white thick meat, no bones, and sooooo yummy. We just fried him off in some oil and ate him with some lemon juice and Mayo.... amazing! Need a few more of those please....
