Dragons, bats and boozers in Indonesia

Dragons

It’s been ages since I’ve updated this blog! The rally has kept us on our toes, so instead of rambling on about all the places we’ve been, I’ll just drop some photos here, and you can see what we have been doing. Currently on Flores Island which is the stepping off point for the Komodo National Park.

If you are thinking about somewhere different to go on holiday, this part of Indonesia is unbelievable - Flores, Komodo, Lombok - so much to do and see - diving, snorkelling, looking at dragons, swimming with whalesharks, climbing volcanoes, looking at flying fox, hanging about on beautiful beaches, drinking Bintang in copious quantities for 5p a tin, amazing sunsets...

Dragons

These little mofo's hanging about the place. Apparently they run at around 15mph and once they sink their teeth into your skin, the bacteria will do its thing and thats it, curtains! I was scared.....

Bats

When I heard people talking about the flying fox, I was very excited - an actual flying fox!

No, it's a type of big bat with foxy faces found in tropical regions between Africa and Australia. They all come out to fly about and feed at night and this was the sight we were greeted with - it was unbelievable

Boozers

Many establishments are disappointingly alcohol free in Indonesia, so with great joy, in Labuan Bajo on the Northern tip of Flores Island, the Bintang (local brew) was flowing. Here we are with some of the rally people

This was an amazing sight at dusk in the Komodo National park
